Day 2 from Lea's Logbook

DAY 2 from “Lea’s Logbook”

Saturday and Sunday morphed into one day. Monday February 20 might seem like Day 3 to our loyal blog readers, it is our Day 2. As we continue on this Vietnam adventure, we try to adjust to losing 12 hours. We feel like “time travelers”. We just stepped ahead into the future giving new meaning to the question; “Who knows where the time goes?”

It’s called “jet laggin’” and it’s good for bloggin’! I am up at 3 am writing this on the blog.

Monday morning in Saigon we wake up in the Star City Hotel. This brand new 4 star is as close to the airport as one can get. From the hotel windows as the sun rises, we see the sprawling city of Saigon with layers of history peeking out from alley ways, avenues, parks, and skyscrapers. We notice with delight a primitive coffee drying business in the triangle across the busy thoroughfare. Cranes in operation early show us this city is heading for renewal. Nothing stays the same here.

We had a wonderful breakfast. We repack our bags leaving therapy materials, lecture notes, and professional clothes with the concierge as we focus now on a week in northern Vietnam.

An easy domestic flight, allows us to enjoy Hanoi for the evening. This new cultural setting is a sensory overload. We are watchful and appreciative observers. See Picasa web album (with captioned details) to the right on the blog dated Feb 20, 2012.
