Getting READY for Mobile Mission 2012 with Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss

Jim and are packing are bags. We find books and toys to share with children in Vietnam. I printed out hundreds of photos of "action pictures" from last year. Now I am pairing them up with objects so the kids can listen and match the thing to the photo.

Our passports, visas, neck pillows, and suitcases are lined up for departure. Saturday Feb 18 th is the day for the long flight to Vietnam.

Beginning of March 2011

The beginning of March starts out like any month. Brody enjoys the view from our deck, Meme and I enjoy lunch as I travel between clients, and we visit with dad. This visit is just two weeks before he dies. Here we are clapping and singing - ready, but really unaware of what profound happening is just days away.

I am lucky to visit my new friend at her house. I meet her husband and their two children. The 4 year old girl sings me a song in Vietnamese. I sing "Track Track to Boston" with her.

Here are four very nice women - one American with three Canadians.

Some people call this a 'tuk tuk", some a "motorized rickshaw", but it is a "romork" - got that?

Mechery Floating Village

Kids paddle home from school wearing school uniforms

Daily work is done the way its been done for 200 years

Fishing is the main occupation in the floating village. With the new road, they can fetch higher prices for their catch.

This ditch is only two years old - what a project! And, in the rainy season, it is filled to the brim- the only dry land is the Buddhist temple.

What a pretty place. Postcard perfect!
